WINNER: GFI Software - GFI Cloud

Welcome to the XXXXXXXXXXXX edition of the Cloud Hosting Newsletter. We lift off this issue with an article by Campbell Williams of Six Degrees Group on why NASA’s cloud strategy has been brought down to earth with a bump by the space agency’s own auditor. Despite being an early pioneer in the cloud space (not to mention actual space!) the report found that NASA’s public cloud had significant failings when it came to “best practices for data security.” Campbell considers where NASA veered off-course and explains why a successful cloud approach really needn’t be rocket science...

Jettisoning the space metaphors but keeping our heads in the cloud, we also have news of Gatwick Airport’s plans to modernise its communications infrastructure with a cloud-based solution supplied by Xchanging, based on Fujitsu and Cisco tech. GFI meanwhile have announced the addition of their Web Protection service to GFI Cloud, the company’s SMB-focused cloud offering.

GFI Cloud won the Cloud Security Solution of the Year award at the Computing Security Awards, held on October 17th at the Hotel Russell in London.
