Welcome to this month's newsletter

Whilst we are still feeling nice and relaxed from our summer holidays, and before we plunge into one of the busiest times of the year, we have the opportunity to reflect on the first half the year past, and those companies in the construction industry that are making waves, leading the pack or whatever you like to call it. Hence the popularity of Awards events, where we get the chance to nominate our own favourite piece of software, select the companies that have impressed us most, or need to tell others about the great piece of hardware we are now using.

No better place to do it than for the Hammers Awards – now running for nine years – whose winners decorate their web pages with our distinctive award logo! We've added a couple more project categories this year, which are judged by a panel of experts – but I get the best job – Editor's Choice. I have to make a choice between half a dozen different companies, software products or whatever, that have impressed me the most this year. Nobody knows which I will select until the awards ceremony itself – but this year, I will do something slightly differently. I will tell you – at the Awards itself – why each is on my short list. Can't be fairer than that!
