Welcome to the September 2014 Newsletter.

Autumn's finally here and with it comes one of the biggest IT events of the year. Running from 8-9 October at the ExCel Centre in London, this year's IP EXPO Europe looks set to be the biggest and best yet.

The show will kick off in impressive fashion with an opening address from Sir Tim Berners-Lee, who will outline his 2050 vision for the web. Commenting, Sir Tim said “I am greatly looking forward to addressing key decision makers in European business at IP EXPO Europe. The issues that will shape the future of the web - from privacy and data regulation, to sustainability and responsibility - don’t just touch our businesses, they touch our lives, and it’s thrilling that we are all at the very epicentre.”

With over 300 exhibitors, including companies such as Microsoft, VMware, IBM and Schneider Electric, the show promises to cater for every aspect of the IT environment, and is bolstered further still by the introduction of two new co-located events: Cyber Security EXPO and Data Centre EXPO. Visit www.ipexpo.co.uk/ to register for free - and be sure to pick up a copy of Network Computing if you’re in the neighbourhood!

It’s also pleasing to be able to share news of a nationwide campaign running this week to encourage adults to get more involved in the digital industries. National Coding Week aims to “encourage adults of any age to learn an element of computer coding; encourage digital experts to share their skills and to collaborate, share, learn and have fun!” With the much discussed IT Skills gap looming large in all our working futures there’s really never been a better time to get coding. Read the news story in this issue to find out how to get involved and follow the twitter hashtag #NationalCodingWeek for the latest updates.
