Welcome to our April 2016 e-newsletter.

By the time you read this column, nominations will have closed for this year’s Storage Awards – and if you missed your chance to nominate, don’t blame me; I’ve been reminding you all for weeks now! All the finalists are now listed at the Awards website ( www.storage-awards.com ), so if you didn’t get round to nominating, it’s still not too late to make your voice heard – you can cast your vote for all the finalists you want to see walking away with the big prizes on the night.

Elsewhere in this issue of the Storage magazine e-newsletter you’ll find a veritable smorgasbord of different themes and topics in our opinion and feature content: the merits of copy data virtualisation stand alongside a worrying debate on the effectiveness – or otherwise – of many organisations’ disaster recovery planning. We also hear an argument that object storage is on the verge of facilitating a major shakeup across the storage industry, and a must-read piece about how big data, for all its hype, is all but meaningless unless it is helping users to make decisions that have a measurable impact.

All in all then, more subjects than you can shake a stick at, all in one place for your delectation. Enjoy of course, and feel free to share with a colleague – and don’t forget to vote!
