Welcome to the May edition of the Cloud Hosting eNewsletter, which includes a look at some interesting pan-European research on the adoption of hybrid cloud. Over 80 percent of enterprises polled are deploying workloads using a mix of cloud types, without fully-integrated or completely formalised interactions between them. The adoption of hybrid cloud takes this one step further, creating an environment that delivers a high degree of interoperation and integrated management.
As Liam Eagle of 451 Research comments: "Multi-cloud is often considered an interim step toward a fully hybrid cloud setup… Perhaps most significant is that approximately a quarter of companies already use some form of hybrid cloud – using the definition of seamless delivery of a single business function across multiple environments." Among the top business drivers toward hybrid – perhaps predictably - is the desire to improve the speed of deployment of applications and services, to enhance business agility.
