Comment

Welcome to the May edition of the Document Manager eNewsletter, and as I write this we seem to be no nearer to any meaningful conclusion to the global lockdown that has seen the economies of pretty much every country in the world grind to a halt. The UK seems to have an air of resignation about it at the moment, as opposed to the shock that was felt when restrictions were first introduced.

It has been encouraging to see though that for many people working from home has proven far more manageable than might have been anticipated - and, as we discussed in our last eNewsletter, this is due in large part to the major role that technology now plays in our home lives as well as our businesses.

Without always-on broadband, for instance, it is inconceivable that the country would have managed to soldier on as it has done - can you imagine what might have happened if this pandemic had hit us 20 years ago before widespread smartphones, video chat capabilities, and collaboration tools? It may seem an odd thing to suggest, but perhaps - outside of the tragic death toll - we have actually been incredibly lucky in the timing of this global disaster.
