The last few weeks have been busy, with a number of BIM events scattered round the country, but, for us, the main focus was the BIM Panel which we hosted for Vectorworks in the Tower Hotel at the end of the month. This was kicked off by David Philp from the BIM Task Group, where he is Head of BIM Implementation for the Cabinet Office and Head of BIM at the Mace Group. No doubt many of you will have heard him speak on numerous other occasions, but we had the privilege of a more in-depth presentation, coming close to the roll out of the first part of the Government's Construction Strategy.
We engaged in a lively discussion about aspects and experiences of BIM from the rest of the panel members - who represented both major BIM users (Transport for London), and smaller architectural practices, who, despite their recent conversion to BIM, have found themselves involved in public projects - the type of work that will certainly fall within the BIM Level 2 and COBie remits. The next couple of issues of CAD user will be recounting their experiences - and will also look closely at some of the other interesting and major issues affecting BIM implementation that were brought up by the panel
