Information Mismanagement
Wednesday the 1st of November at the Institute of Civil Engineering in London is the date and venue of our second seminar on Information Management. The first, held last May, was entitled COBie or not COBIe, sponsored by Vectorworks, raised some interesting questions about delivering BIM, and whether COBie was a better solution than a federated 3D model courtesy of 3D Repo.

Wednesday’s event looks at the issues relating to information management beyond BIM, how it affects all members of a project delivery team, and how we can ‘Take Control’ of the rapidly escalating amount of information being thrown at us. BIM is just one small part of the issue, as the Internet of Things (IoT) will bring undoubted benefits, but huge opportunities for increased regulation, fraud, misrepresentation, misuse and other issues. The sponsor for the take control seminar is Newforma. There is still an opportunity to attend if you haven’t suffered from Halloween yet – just click on the Construction Computing website and follow the links.

I am an information Junkie, and have volunteered to do the first session, and will be presenting a local case study that looks at a project that has gone belly up in the most disgusting way because the first principals of information management were ignored – a scary story for Walpurgisnacht. Can it happen elsewhere – you can bet your boots it can, and still is.
