The Sustainability Challenge

The sixteenth Construction Computing Awards are going physical. No more Zoom or Teams for the social event of the year. It will be taking place at the Leonardo City Hotel in London on the 11th of November. Plenty of time, therefore, to put in your nominations, projects and company profiles for the various categories you'll find here.

Reflecting the pandemic though, which has given us all plenty to think about and which will change the course of many lives, we want to draw your attention to two categories which relate to current highly important issues - Sustainability Project of the Year and Health and Safety software of the year. The latter speaks for itself, and many companies have risen well to the challenges of COVID-19, but the Sustainability Project of the Year has much wider ramifications.

The year 2021 has seen some alarming climate catastrophes, from the abnormal temperatures recorded in Canada this Spring, to the global, devastating and unprecedented flooding events throughout Europe and in China. Records are being smashed everywhere, but unlike the Olympics, these presage nothing but more and further incidences of dramatic climate change.

How are individual companies in the construction industry preparing for such a challenging future? What projects are putting Net Zero Carbon to the forefront of their agenda? What other measures are being taken to build sustainability into a construction or infrastructure project? Tell us what you are doing - not just to win a Hammers Award - but to inspire and encourage every other company that has the means and the will to make a difference.
