The second issue of the Cloud Hosting enewsletter coincides with a flurry of news activity around growth in the marketplace, especially in the public sector. But is it still too hard for smaller businesses to get onto the procurement ladder of government IT? Databarracks' Peter Groucutt certainly thinks so: "There is still a big culture change that needs to happen in public sector IT procurement. G-Cloud has put in place a new way of buying IT for the public sector and at last provided the opportunity to buy more simply from SMEs. There are those who really don't want this change to the status quo and will fight to protect the position they are in. The big incumbent SIs have been profiting from the situation for years and they are the ones with the large sales teams and public sector business units to promote their services, whereas until now SMEs have had no need to do this."

We are planning to cover developments in the G-Cloud arena in some detail over coming issues, as you might expect - so if you've comments you'd like to add from a vendor, reseller, SI or end user perspective, feel free to drop me a line at the email address below.
