Welcome to the October issue of our eNewsletter, which includes a news story about UK companies moving their systems to Microsoft's recently announced UK data centres. You can scarcely have missed the recent TV advertising campaign promoting the Microsoft Cloud as if the Cloud itself was a MS product: but this of course is how we're used to seeing Microsoft describe its offerings. And there is no doubt it works for them in their traditional markets. Early indications are that the MS Cloud concept is also resonating with businesses and public sector organisations.
Our news story mentions South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, but other early users include the MoD, which will use Office 365 and Azure cloud services, with the Government citing value for money and security as key reasons for the agreement. "Microsoft's secure and transparent cloud service in the UK fits perfectly with the MoD's digital transformation agenda," said Mike Stone, Chief Digital and Information Officer at the MoD.
As Microsoft continue to present themselves as being able to help empower digital transformation, and open up the Cloud conversation via massive TV ad campaigns, this can probably only be a good thing for the industry as a whole. We'd love to hear what you think, via the email address below as usual.
