Welcome to the August edition of the Document Manager e-newsletter,
where we are thinking big - Big Data, that is! Jeff Mills of Xenos Actuate offers an indispensable 'cut out and keep' Top Ten things to think about when trying to marry up a Big data strategy with a DM/ECM infrastructure.
As he says: "Every minute of every day, YouTube users upload 48 hours of video and Facebook users share 684,478 pieces of content - it is easy to see how the term 'Big Data' originated. This information - and much more besides - is delivered via a whole array of devices and platforms, and people want to access it on multiple devices too. This move toward multi-channel big data is inherently complex and can mean a headache for those involved with document management."
We also take a close look at how to get the most out of your channel partners, in a piece from relative newcomers to the UK market Spigraph. According to the company's Dean Woolliscroft: "The growing need for complete tailored solutions is where the channel really adds value. Rather than relying on a single vendor to provide a branded solution, value-added distributors can leverage their relationships woth software vendors, manufacturers and resellers, not only to build the most cost effective solution for an end-user, but also to create, imlement and manage a bespoke, 'best-of-breed' EDM solution to meet the unique requirements of each organisation."
Last but definitely not least, don't forget you can still vote in the DM Awards 2013 at www.dmawards.com - the finalists are all listed on the website, so why not visit now to see if your company or your partners/clients are on the shortlist?
