Comment Perhaps the biggest news story at the moment (discounting flooding and the Winter Olympics!) is the newly announced merger between Dicom and Spigraph. While Dicom has been a very well established player here in the UK for more years than I care to remember, Spigraph is only a relatively recent entrant to the local market.
The merger though will create the largest Value Added Distributor (VAD) in EMEA for our industry sector: Dicom operates across 20 countries and Spigraph almost as many. It will be interesting to see how the new group manages its existing partner and customer relationships following the completion of the merger. As we've commented before, it sometimes appears that the only constant in the document and content management industry, is change. Is consolidation like this a good thing for the sector, or a limitation on choice? Will new upstart companies keep coming though to replace those names that continue to disappear?
Let us know what you think; we'd love to hear your views for future issues.
