We find ourselves, as this e-newsletter is being prepared for distribution, on the verge of announcing the DM Awards 2016 - this will be the tenth year of our awards ceremony, and we have some big plans to mark this anniversary, including a possible change of venue for the first time in several years. The details, however, are yet to be finalised, so I can only say ‘watch this space’!
One thing I do know for sure though, is that we are planning to introduce one or two exciting new categories - one of which will relate to print/scan management solutions. This is an area where we continue to see growth in the range of product offerings from multifunction/copier firms and DM/ECM suppliers alike - indeed this e-newsletter includes a news item about a new version of Canon’s uniFLOW tool, which is a great example of the category. Such solutions have of course been primarily developed to help organisations to manage the cost and security of their print fleets - quite a task in universities, healthcare and many other sectors. But as print and scan have become more closely integrated from a management perspective (if not always from a user one) it is clear that such tools will increasingly impact on how DM and ECM solutions operate. We’d be fascinated to hear your views, as ever - feel free to email me at the address below.
