Comment

Welcome to the May edition of the Document Manager eNewsletter, which includes a very timely article on the environmental impact of paper processes. Recent weeks have seen widespread public demonstrations and protests about the world’s leading powers seemingly refusing to act meaningfully on overwhelming evidence of man-made climate change, and several countries have now announced ‘a state of climate emergency’ - though it remains to be seen exactly what such pronouncements might mean in practice!

Nonetheless there is clearly something of an awakening taking place at many levels of society to the impact that we are having on our surroundings - whether in calls to make all new-build housing free of carbon fuel systems, or just the matter of what the straws in your fast food meal should be made of. It is to be hoped that the document management industry can be seen as a leader in these debates, rather than a reactive follower.
