Welcome to our June eNewsletter, which includes an interesting take on digital transformation from OASIS Group's Steve Townley. There is a general perception that the pandemic has given added impetus to many organisations in their shift toward digital ways of working. In 'forcing' that adoption though, business leaders have often had to retrospectively evaluate the implications of systems on their business, process and people.

Steve argues that the human element of the equation has too frequently been sidelined: "Prior to COVID-19 most workers had little to no remote working experience, nor were many employers prepared for supporting their team members with this practice. This led to companies being forced to make their business and teams adapt to new technology, without a detailed review of the processes that enabled their business to operateā€¦ Whilst technology most certainly aids collaboration, it must be driven by people."

Communication is crucial in getting digital transformation to work in the real world: speak to team members across your organisation who have been using these technologies to understand where their strengths and weaknesses lie. Your end-users, says Steve, are the best-case study for how well your digital transformation is going. Ignore them at your peril.

DM AWARDS 2021 - STOP PRESS: As this eNewsletter is being prepared we are delighted to be able to announce that - barring major setbacks - we are planning for this year's DM Awards to return to a full 'big night out' event later this year. We will of course keep you updated as things progress, so watch this space and www.dmawards.com for the opening of nominations.
