Welcome to the April edition of the Document Manager eNewsletter, which includes a thought-provoking article from Kyocera's Martin Fairman who argues that the changes we have all seen to the work environment over the last couple of years have created a perfect moment for organisations to reassess automating their Accounts Payable processes. Remarkably, around 95% of UK businesses still use some form of paper and manual data entry in their finance functions - despite this being probably the easiest application area to automate with document management technologies.

As Martin's article says: "In a changed working environment, finance professionals can no longer rely on manual processes to get the job done. Increasing efficiency in finance departments is more crucial than ever, and automation has a major role to play in achieving this."

It goes on, "The uncertainty of the last couple of years has proven to business leaders that keeping a tight rein on cashflow is absolutely vital if you want to survive and thrive. By embracing automation, organisations can experience a plethora of immediate benefits. These include reduced invoice processing costs, increased visibility, higher staff productivity and a reduction in costly invoicing errors."

Frankly, we are staggered that there are still organisations out there who haven't already gone some way down the road to A/P automation. If the ongoing shift toward hybrid working doesn't give these firms a push, we wonder what will.
