Welcome to the August edition of the Document Manager eNewsletter, which includes a thought-provoking bylined piece from Kofax's Gabriela Garner on how to exploit MFDs to achieve smarter document management. Over the years there has been plenty of to and fro about whether MFDs were up to the task of 'serious' document management when compared with dedicated scanning devices, but it's fair to say that each device has its strengths and most organisations can benefit from a mixed fleet depending on their requirements.

As Gabriela says: "MFDs have been a mainstay in most organisations for quite some time, but when the right automation technology is applied to them, they're transformed into versatile powerhouses. Intelligent automation unlocks the full potential of MFDs, making them smart devices that can accelerate your digital strategy and serve as the connective tissue between your current state of digital transformation and where it needs to go."

You may not think of your MFDs as a stepping stone to digital workflow transformation, but by applying intelligent automation capabilities to them, they can become an 'on-ramp to transformation'.

In closing I'd like to remind readers once more that nominations are still open - but only until August 31st - for this year's DM Awards: visit www.dmawards.com right now to make your voice heard.
