Welcome to the April edition of the Document Manager eNewsletter, which includes news of an interesting new initiative from DocuWare, who are working in conjunction with the One Tree Planted non-profit organisation to assist with efforts to support global reforestation. By committing to the planting of one new tree for every new customer, DocuWare hopes to not only help the planet, but also raise awareness of the issue.

As DocuWare's president Michael Berger commented: "We are excited to partner with One Tree Planted and contribute to global reforestation efforts. Our initiative to plant a tree for every new customer is a small but powerful step towards promoting a better environment for all."

For an industry supposedly dedicated to eliminating paper in our processes, we sometimes forget the enormous impact of business activities on our environment. It is easy to pay lip-service to green policies when they are theoretical or distanced from our everyday activities, but perhaps more initiatives like this one will help us to remember the urgent need for change.

If more organisations across our sector made it public that they were supporting schemes like One Tree Planted, it could become almost second nature for businesses to give something back to the world with every sale. Wouldn't that be great?
