Welcome to the November 2014 Newsletter.
We've a bit of a network monitoring theme going on this issue, starting with an opinion piece from Rony Kay, CEO of cPacket Networks. For Rony the legacy approach to monitoring is now obsolete, unable to keep pace with the evolving demands of data centres and cloud hosting “Effective network monitoring and diagnostics needs to provide real-time granular performance indicators for specific application traffic across the entire network,” he writes. Read Rony’s article for advice on how to keep pace with your network infrastructure demands even as they grow in complexity.
If you’re already in the market for a cutting-edge monitoring tool then our review of the latest iteration of Paessler’s PRTG Network Monitor, Version 14, is a must read. The fact that PRTG is used to keep an eye on the NC test lab itself should give an idea of the confidence placed in it by our reviewer, who states that it “puts the fun back into network monitoring.” No mean feat I’m sure you’ll agree!
