Network Computing Awards 2016, March 17th at the Hotel Russell, London

The nominations have been made and the finalists for this year's Network Computing Awards have been announced. It’s now up to you, the readers of Network Computing, to vote to determine this year’s winners by March 7th!

Welcome to the February 2016 Newsletter.

We've got a bumper issue of the newsletter this month, the last one before the 2016 Network Computing Awards on March 17th. You still have until March 7th to cast your votes for this year's winners, so please do visit the awards website to pick the solutions, services and companies that you feel have made the biggest impact in the networking industry in the past twelve months.

Elsewhere this month Leon Adato, Head Geek at SolarWinds, offers a security boost for the enterprise network and network managers alike with some fundamental security guidelines, while AlienVault's Javvad Malik explains how smaller teams and SMEs can achieve effective security on a budget and with limited resources. We also have an interesting look beyond the hype surrounding hyper-convergence - is it more than just the latest IT buzzword? As Andrew Pitkethly at Misco explains, "if you are facing challenges such as managing your IT and lowering energy consumption, and you need the flexibility to drop in equipment and expand the physical infrastructure at speed, then hyper-convergence could make a big difference."

All that remains is to wish good luck in the coming weeks to everyone nominated for this year's NC Awards. We'll be back with a round-up of all the winners next month, and we'll also be tweeting the results on March 17th as they're announced (or shortly thereafter depending on our typing speed!).
