Welcome to the Storage magazine eNewsletter for June, which includes a timely piece from METCloud's Ian Vickers on the importance of DR/backup in a time of almost daily ransomware horror stories. Since Ian wrote this piece his point has been vividly illustrated by numerous very high profile attacks including on the Colonial pipeline, which caused massive unrest as fuel shortages ensued across large parts of the USA.

As I write this there is still uncertainty about the outcome of a similar attack on meat packing giant JBS, who are believed to have paid an US$11 million ransom after its American and Australian operations were halted, disrupting food supply chains and causing price rises elsewhere around the globe.

These recent examples bring home the sobering fact that everyone is potentially liable to ransomware attacks - and if you can't stop it happening, the next best thing is to be able to recover your critical data effectively and quickly. Backup has literally never been so important for business continuity as it is right now.

Lastly, can I remind you that nominations for this year's Storage Awards are due to close on June 30th, so there isn't much time left to have your say - head to www.storage-awards.com right now!
